When I was in New York over the holidays, aside from seeing Phish for 4 nights, I also ate a lot of food at some amazing restaurants. I had nearly the whole menu at Momofuku Noodle Bar and did 3 tasting menus at Eleven Madison Park, Gramercy Tavern and Wong. Aside from destroying my bank account and some of my internal organs, I also got a load of inspiration. As I often do, I decided to do my own tasting menu when I finally returned home. I literally couldn't sleep one night because I was obsessing over what I was going to cook and how I was going to plate it. After hitting up the winter farmer's market and my pantry, I got to work. One thing I set out to achieve here is a certain level of restraint that I often lack in terms of my plating. I try to do too much on the plate and sometimes it gets a bit muddled. So I drew on my recent meals for design more than anything. I think it worked out pretty well but you can decide for yourselves.
